Swede volleyball splits at Baker Invitational

BALDWIN CITY – The Swedes volleyball team went 2-2 this weekend at the Baker Invitational tournament.

The Swedes fell first on Friday morning to the University of the Southwest Mustangs in four sets; 27-29, 25-16, 20-25, and 19-25. Bethany then rebounded in the afternoon to defeat Graceland University 26-28, 25-22, 25-16, and 25-20.

On Saturday, the Swedes were redeemed from an earlier season loss to Haskell Indian Nations University. They defeated the Indians, 25-18, 21-25, 25-18, and 26-24. However, the Swedes were unable to defeat Benedictine College falling in three sets; 18-25, 24-26, and 21-25.

The Swedes travel to Kansas Wesleyan on Wednesday for the first game in the First Bank Kansas Smoky Hill Showdown. First serve for this nonconference match is set for 7 p.m.
