Pickup stolen while owner inside convenience store

A Salina man had his pickup stolen Monday while visiting a northwest Salina convenience store.

Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester said Tuesday that Mitchell Eye, 60, of Salina, reported to police that sometime between 8:20-8:55 a.m. Monday, someone stole his white 2000 Ford F150 while he was inside a convenience store in the 100 block of North Broadway. The keys had been left on the floorboard of the pickup, Forrester said.

The pickup had a white, hard bed cover and a black bug shield, Forrester said. The vehicle had a Kansas tag: 600LHX, he added. Additionally, there was approximately $1,000 worth of tools in the bed of the pickup, Forrester said.

He said the total loss was estimated at $5,000. There are no suspects at this time, he added.
