James “Jim” Clarence Weber

James “Jim” Clarence Weber, 87 of Salina, KS passed away at home with family after a long illness. Jim was born August 3, 1931 in Salina to John William and Virginia Weber. He married Margaret Ann Short on June 22, 1955 in Tokyo, Japan.

Jim graduated from Salina High School, attended Kansas Wesleyan for a year, transferred to Kansas University and joined Phi Delta Theta where he graduated in 1953. Upon graduation he joined the army and was sent to Japan. Margaret joined him, and they were married in Tokyo. Their first child, Jennifer was born in Sendai and they never forgot the year they spent in Japan.

Jim and family returned to Salina and Jim joined Evans Grain Company and later Morrison Grain Company. He was Traffic Manager for Lincoln Grain in Atchison, KS for seven years, but returned to Salina and retired with Wright Lorenz Grain.

KU was very important to Jim and the entire family. Margaret and all (3) children attended and graduated from KU. There were many years of attending football and basketball games with the family.

Jim was very active with sports and his favorite was playing Handball at the YMCA. He participated in many tournaments all over the nation.

Jim is survived by his wife Margaret, brother John K. Weber (wife Marilyn), daughter Jennifer Weber (husband Robert Michael), son James Kurt Weber (wife Virginia), son John Eric Weber (wife Kriste). Grandchildren: Jakob Weber, Elizabeth Weber, Grant Weber, Felicia Martinez, Joseph Martinez, Christina Martinez. Great grandchildren, Alexia Martinez, Isaac Martinez, Lilly Martinez, Nadia Martinez, Maya Martinez.

Special gratitude goes to Pinnacle Park and their wonderful caregivers as well as Kindred Hospice. The family appreciates you so much.

At the family’s request there will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 11:00 AM, Monday September, 24, 2018 at Roselawn Heights Memorial Chapel, 1423 E. Crawford, Salina, KS 67401, with Rev. Basil Price officiating. Lunch will be available immediately after the ceremony.

In Lieu of flowers, Memorial gifts may be made to the Salina YMCA or Kansas University Endowment, in care of Roselawn Mortuary, PO Box 2322, Salina, 67402.
