As the season changes so it is time for free oil changes at Emmanuel Foursquare Church.

Members of the church, located at 1325 E. Cloud, are once again offering free vehicle oil changes and more for single women and wives of deployed military. This year’s event is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. on October 6.

“We sponsor this for single women (never been married, divorced, single moms, widows) because there are some who do not have the means or the ability to get their oil changed. With the winter months right around the corner, this also allows us to help winterize the cars a little bit, too,” said Alan Webb, Activities Pastor at Emmanuel Foursquare Church.

“We just want all to know that Jesus loves them and this outreach is a way to show them that love,” he added.

Webb said the church has been providing this service for 25 years.

“Depending on the year, the church has helped between 60-90 individuals with their cars,” he said.

Volunteers from the church will do all the work, Webb said.

“Those who volunteer in the parking lot will help change the oil, check other fluid levels and tire pressure, vacuum the car’s floorboards, and clean the car’s windows, while those who volunteer on the Front Porch of the church will serve a light meal and visit and pray with those who are getting their cars worked on,” Webb explained.

Women interested in participating in the event are asked to call 785-825-1943 to make an appointment. Participants also are asked to take a new oil filter with them to their appointments.
