When Salina police responded to a call at the Salina Rescue Mission on Thursday morning, they found more than just a person who was reported to be trespassing.
Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester said Friday morning that officers were called to the Salina Rescue Mission, 1716 Summers Road, at 7:10 a.m. Thursday for a complaint of someone who would not leave the building. When police arrived, they found Nicholas Coleman, 24, of Salina, in the second-floor living area, Forrester said. Coleman was not staying at the Rescue Mission, he added.
Coleman was arrested on a charge of trespassing, Forrester said.
During the course of the investigation, police located bus tickets, a bus pass, and sales logs that belonged to nearby OCCK, 1710 W. Shilling Road, he said. According to Forrester, when police contacted personnel at OCCK, they learned that Coleman had been seen walking around the inside of the building in an area not open to the public at approximately 6:35 a.m.
Forrester said that Coleman also was charged with one count of aggravated burglary for the OCCK incident.
The items taken from OCCK were valued at approximately $145, he said.
