Less than a month ago, Southeast of Saline stole a victory from the Riley County Falcons. On October 12th, the Falcons led SES 21-0 at halftime but the Trojans would score 23 unanswered points in the second half to win.
The rematch tonight was physical and showcased two teams trying to extend their season. Riley County scored on both of their opening drives, putting the Trojans in a hole early on, 14-0. SES would drive the football inside of the one yard line but came away empty after failing to convert a 4th and goal at the one yard line.
The Southeast defense would stand up and stop the Falcons, getting the ball back for their offense. Mitch Gebhardt would then dig into his playbook. Back-to-back halfback passes from Kyler Berry to Nick Montgomery would net two touchdowns and tie the game at 14 going into halftime after Aaron Kitchener converted both point after kicks.
However, this time the second half would belong to the Falcons. Riley County outscored SES 19-0 in the second half to seal the victory 33-14.
The loss ends the seasons for Southeast of Saline with a record of 8-2. Riley County moves to 8-2 and they will be on the road next week to face Silver Lake.
