Police investigating robbery

Police are investigating the reported robbery of a 50-year-old Salina man on Friday evening.

Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester said Monday that police were contacted Saturday morning by the man who reported that he was robbed the night before in the 900 block of North 13th.

The man told police that he was headed to a residence in the 900 block of North 13th to collect some money owed to him for furniture he sold, Forrester said. As the man got out of the car, he heard someone comment about him stealing something and then he was punched in the face, he told police. Forrester said the man believed there were two male subjects who attacked him, but he was unable to describe them.

During the altercation, the man dropped his car keys, which were picked up by one of the suspects, he told police. According to the report, the suspects went through his pockets and took $52 in cash that he had.

Forrester said the man was scared, so he hid out behind the trailers in the area until he reported the incident to police about mid-morning the next day.
