Commissioners Postpone Approval of Towing Rules Changes

The Salina City Commission postponed by a week a vote on a second reading concerning amendments to the city code pertaining to towing and storage of vehicles.

After concerns brought up by towing company owners on releasing personal property from vehicles, Commissioners wanted to make sure that the amendments are in line with state statues.

Commissioners on a 5-0 vote did approve on second reading amendments to city code that increased fees on parking tickets, and also approving the removal of tattoo parlors from the listed of prohibited uses and adding it to the list of the conditional uses in the C-4 district, which is downtown Salina.

Commissioners also approved a review of the 2010 audit for the city, and a resolution declaring it to be necessary to appropriate certain private property for the widening of Magnolia Road from Ohio Street east to the flood protection levee.
