Salina man arrested for aggravated domestic battery

A Salina man has been arrested on a charge of aggravated domestic battery after a female relative reported that he grabbed her around the neck and shoved her against a wall and into a nightstand.

Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester said Friday that police were called to an apartment complex in the 1300 block of East North Street for the report of physical domestic violence. An 18-year-old woman told police that when she got into an argument with Charles Hamilton, 49, of Salina, he grabbed her throat, pushed her against a wall, and shoved her into a nightstand, knocking over a lamp, Forrester said. The injuries on her neck were consistent with being grabbed by the neck, he added.

The woman was taken to Salina Regional Health Center to have her injuries looked at, Forrester said.

Hamilton was charged with aggravated domestic battery, according to the Saline County Jail booking report.
