Manuel “Shorty” Ribordy, 77 of Abilene passed away Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. He was born July 13, 1941 in Aurora, Kansas, the son of Ambross and Rosetta (Marcott) Ribordy.
He attended the Aurora school district and graduated from Aurora high school.
On September 3, 1971 he was united in marriage to Karen C. Libby in Salina. She preceded him in death January 17, 2017.
Shorty worked for DS&O as a tree trimmer and later worked for West Country Mart.
Shorty was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Solomon and belonged in the Knights of Columbus.
Shorty is survived by two daughters: Connie Janzen and husband Mark of Abilene and Stephanie Hosie of Salina. Three sons: Roger Ribordy (Cheryl) of Salina, Randy Fowler (Verna) of Salina and Sam Ribordy (Kim) of Lodi, California. Eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00 A.M., Friday, December 7, 2018 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Solomon with Father John Wolesky as Celebrant. Vigil Service will be 4:30 P.M., Thursday, December 6, 2018 at Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home in Abilene. Family will receive friends following until 8:00pm. Inurnment will take place Monday, December 10, 2018 at 10:30 A.M., at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Solomon. The family suggests memorials be given to the American Diabetes Association. Memorials may be dropped off or mailed to Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home, 414 NW Third St., Abilene, Kansas 67410.
