A malfunctioning coffee maker was responsible for multiple Salina Fire Department vehicles responding to the Willow Grove Apartments this morning.

According to Salina Fire Marshall Troy Long, fire department personnel reported to the senior living facility at 1226 E. Kirwin after someone smelled what was thought to be smoke. As it turned out, some plastic melted on a malfunctioning coffeemaker, Long said.

Aside from the coffeemaker, nothing was damaged and no one was injured, Long said.
