Salinan Sam Riffel is a lifelong Kansas City Chiefs fan, but he has never been to a Chiefs game.
That will change Saturday when Sam attends the Chiefs’ playoff game with the Indianapolis Colts in Arrowhead Stadium, courtesy of Comfort Heating and Air.
Sam’s name was drawn from among those featured this past fall as Comfort Heating and Air Salute to Service honorees.
Originally, the honoree selected was supposed to attend the Chiefs-Raiders game on December 30, but because of a scheduling conflict, Sam was not able to make that game, so Comfort is sending Sam and a guest to the Chiefs-Colts game on Saturday. He and a guest will enjoy lower level tickets, parking, and a VIP tailgate, courtesy of Comfort Heating and Air.
Ironically, Sam, who is a patrol officer with the Salina Police Department, was supposed to work Saturday, but co-workers volunteered to fill his spot so he could go to Kansas City!
Sam served 10 years — from 2006 to 2016 — in the Marine Reserve. He was deployed twice: to Afghanistan and Africa. Sam was a platoon leader and ammo tech. He was a Staff Sergeant when he was discharged.
Once again, thank you, Sam, for your service! Thank you, also, to all of the honorees. If you would like to read about the honorees, please click the links below.
