UPDATED 8 a.m. Tuesday: The winter weather advisory has been extended until 9 p.m. Tuesday. Additionally, freezing drizzle followed by snow is expected, total snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches and ice accumulations of a light glaze. North winds gusting as high as 40 mph will cause reduced visibilities.
The National Weather Service office in Wichita (NWSW) has issued a winter weather advisory for much of the northern half of Kansas, including Salina and the surrounding area, beginning 6 a.m. Tuesday.
According to NWSW, the winter weather advisory will be in effect from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday. Freezing drizzle and light snow is expected. Additionally, winds are expected to gust as high as 45 mph.
Plan on slippery road conditions. “The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute,” NWSW noted.

A chance of drizzle or freezing drizzle before noon, then a chance of snow and freezing drizzle between noon and 3 p.m., then a chance of snow after 3 p.m. Cloudy, with a temperature falling to around 26 by 3 p.m. Windy, with a south wind 16 to 21 mph becoming northwest 26 to 31 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 44 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

A 20-percent chance of snow before 7 p.m. Cloudy during the early evening, then gradual clearing, with a low around 19. Blustery, with a north northwest wind 20 to 25 mph decreasing to 11 to 16 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 36 mph.
