A sudden switch in weather conditions is in the forecast for much of western Kansas as wintry weather heads for the state.

The National Weather Service has posted a blizzard warning from 1 a.m. to 7 p.m. Central time Wednesday for the far northwest and central-west. Travel is likely to be treacherous, with winds of 25 to 35 mph gusting up to 50 mph.

Snow is also possible Wednesday for much of southwestern and central Kansas. Predictions range from 1 to 4 inches of snow across the region.
