CONCORDIA, Kan. — She wasn’t always the biggest forward on the floor competing inside the loaded Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference. But on many nights during her two years in Concordia, Cloud County Community College sophomore Scout Frame walked off the floor as the hardest worker.
That tenacious style of play would certainly pay off for Frame, the 5’10 power forward out of Kinsley, Kansas, as she signed her National Letter of Intent on Tuesday to continue her collegiate career at Flagler College, a NCAA Division II institution out of the Peach Belt Conference.
“Ultimately, it came down to the best fit,” said Frame, who plans on majoring in Political Science with a minor in Environmental Studies. “I wanted a group of girls that I enjoyed being around, coaches who had the same mindset as me, and that’s what I found at Flagler.”
A chance to experience the city life in St. Augustine, Florida provided another perk Frame said factored into her final decision.
“I’m absolutely excited about that,” said Frame about the opportunity to step out of the small town comfort zone. “I have been looking for a change like that. I’ve gone from a small town in Kansas growing up, to a small town in Kansas for my first two years of school, so I’m completely excited about that part of it.”
Frame will graduate from Cloud County this spring as one of the most accomplished players in program history, ranking fourth in the school record book in all-time scoring with 1,010 career points and fifth in career rebounds (514).
She is just the second player to eclipse the 1,000 points and 500 rebounds mark, joining Stanecia Graham, who scored 1,182 points and grabbed 588 rebounds from 2005-07.
In addition to her career numbers, Frame’s 40-point game against Allen County Community College on Jan. 10, 2018 made her just the third T-Bird to score 40 or more in a game since individual records started being kept in 1975.
“It means a lot to me to have been able to make an impact at Cloud County,” said Frame of her imprint on the Cloud County record book. “And I couldn’t have done any of that without my teammates.”
Frame’s performance garnered her First-Team All-Conference honors in her sophomore season after averaging 17.6 points and 9.2 rebounds per game. She earned Second-Team All-Conference as a freshman and is also a two-time All-Region VI Honorable Mention selection.
She’ll now join a Flagler College team that is steadily on the rise under Head Coach, Erika Lang-Montgomery. The Saints finished 21-8 overall this past winter and 18-9 in 2017-18 after a five-win season back in 2016-17.
“The skill level, talent level, everything about it will be a step up,” Frame said. “I’m going to have to stay in the gym, keep working, and I’ll probably have to increase my range and get use to shooting the three. But I’m excited for that.”
