John Henry “Butch” Carter, Sr.

John Henry “Butch” Carter, Sr., 71, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 4:25 p.m., Wednesday, May 8th, 2019 while in the company of family members, at Salem Home, Hillsboro, Kansas. 

Butch was born in Dighton, Kansas on August 28, 1947, a son of Sylvia (Fattig) and Charles Albert Carter.

Butch attended St. Joseph grade schools, St. Joseph, Missouri.

Through the years Butch worked for himself as a salvage recycler until he retired in 2018. 

Butch enjoyed gardening, salvaging, visiting with neighbors on the front porch, and spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren.

John Henry Carter, Sr. was united in marriage to Peggy Ann Parker on July 3, 1967 in McPherson, Kansas. The young couple established their first home together in McPherson. This union was blessed with the birth of four children, Shannon, John, Stephanie and Jason.

He is survived by his children, Shannon Carter, of McPherson, Kansas, John Carter, Jr., of McPherson, Kansas, Stephanie Zeller and her husband Dave, of Hillsboro, Kansas, Donald Calvin and his wife Rachel, of Temple, Texas and Danielle Eary and her husband Alex, of Texas. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Amber Moore, Britney Martin(John), Aaron Carter(Damien), Taylor Perry(Matt), Michael Carter(Morgan), Timmy Carter, JoAnna Mae Carter. 

Butch was preceded in death by his parents; his son Jason; his brother Charles Carter and a sister Martha Bell Clark.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. till 5:00 p.m. at Lakeside Park, McPherson, Kansas.
