NWSW: Storms possible tonight, Saturday

Isolated severe storms are possible this evening across a small part of central Kansas.

According to the National Weather Service office in Wichita (NWSW), the storms will be capable of half dollar size hail and damaging wind gusts to 65 mph. Strong storms with nickel size hail and 50 mph wind gusts will be possible tonight across the rest of central and south central Kansas.

Thunderstorms are likely across much of the area on Saturday and Saturday night. Severe storms are possible Saturday afternoon and evening, with the main risks being large hail and damaging winds. Locally heavy rainfall can also be expected, especially east of the Kansas turnpike.

Another round of thunderstorms will affect the area Monday into Tuesday. While some severe weather is possible, the main risk is expected to be heavy rainfall which could renew flooding across the area.
