Salina man arrested after alleged domestic dispute

An alleged multiple day domestic dispute resulted in the arrest of a 26-year-old Salina man.

Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester said Friday that Jordan Urbanek was arrested on suspicion of the following.

  • Aggravated domestic battery
  • Criminal threat
  • Aggravated kidnapping
  • Cruelty to animals
  • Domestic battery
  • Sexual battery

Forrester said a 27-year-old female reported to officers that she and Urbanek got into an argument on Wednesday morning and that the argument continued when she picked him up from work that evening. The woman told police that at one point, once they got back to their residence, Urbanek attempted to strangle her and flipped over a coffee table, causing damage to it, Forrester said. The woman also told police that Urbanek strangled her dog an threw it at her, Forrester said. The dog survived, he added.

Although the woman said she tried to leave several times, Urbanek would not allow her to do so, even pulling her back inside the house at one point, Forrester said. She told police that Urbanek also threw her up against a wall and threatened to do harm to her and her children if she went to police, Forrester said. The children were staying with a relative and were not in the residence during the incident, he said.

Urbanek also allegedly damaged wallboard in two rooms and the trim on two doorways, Forrester said. Damage to the residence and the coffee table was estimated at $550, he added.

The woman was able to get out of the house and contact police after Urbanek left for work on Thursday morning, Forrester said. She had bruising on her right arm, swelling on her right knee, and marks on her throat, he said.
