A Salina teenager was taken into custody Thursday evening after an altercation at a Saint Francis Ministries facility on South Ohio.
Salina Police were dispatched to the facility at 1813 S. Ohio, at 6:30 p.m. Thursday after receiving a call from a Saint Francis employee, Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester said. Upon arrival, officers found a shattered four-foot by six-foot window near the entrance to the facility.
Saint Francis employee Sarah Schulte, 22, reported that she was talking with Elizabeth Stanley-Townsend, 16, when Stanley-Townsend began calling her names and threatened to hit her, Forrester said. When Schulte left the room, she heard glass breaking and then observed Stanley-Townsend throwing chairs and flipping tables, Forrester said. Stanley-Townsend also appeared to have damaged curtains and a computer cord, he said.
As Stanley-Townsend was attempting to leave the facility, she allegedly kicked the door, causing damage to the tinting on the door glass, Forrester said. Police made contact with Stanley-Townsend outside the facility, where she was arrested on suspicion of the following.
- Criminal threat
- Felony damage to property
- Battery
- Disorderly conduct
- Intimidation of a witness
Stanley-Townsend was taken to the juvenile detention facility in Junction City, Forrester said.
Total damage in the incident was estimated at $1,600, he added.
