Saline County Administrator announces resignation at County Commission meeting Tuesday

The Saline County Board of County Commissioners met on Tuesday, July 30th with several items on the agenda and three department updates for the public meeting at 9am. Here are the highlights from the meeting:

· County Treasurer, Jim DuBois provided a report on interest gained so far in 2019 on idle funds. All interest gained from idle funds is deposited into the County General Fund and so far for 2019, $484,681 has been gained in interest.

· A Fireworks Display Permit for September 29th, 2019 at the Salina Country Club was approved by the Commissioners.

· Emergency Management Director, Michelle Barkley, reported on the floods as well as all of the department activities. They are working with agencies currently to gather all information regarding the damages and costs associated with the response and recovery from the floods to provide for potential FEMA reimbursement.

· Planning & Zoning reported there has been 28 building permits that have been approved so far in 2019 which is consistent with activity in years past. Also, the Environmental Health employees have been busy in their response area with 197 permitted activities so far in 2019.

· The 2020 Budget Hearing for Saline County, the Kipp Sewer District and Rural Fire Districts #1-7 will be held on Tuesday, August 6th at 9am during the regular Board of County Commission meeting in room 107.

Lastly, County Commissioners accepted the resignation of County Administrator, Andrew Manley effective on August 29th, 2019. Andrew has accepted another position with First Bank Kansas. Mr. Manley has been a great asset to Saline County in his tenure and Saline County
thanks him for his contributions but most of all wishes him the best of luck in the future.

The agenda for next Tuesday’s meeting, August 6th, will be released later this week and available on the County website: www.saline.org . All County Commission meetings begin at 9am on Tuesdays in room 107 at the City/County Building, 300 W. Ash. Citizens are always welcome to attend any and all parts of the meeting, excluding executive sessions.
