Mounted whitetail deer stolen from taxidermy shop

Salina Police are hunting a whitetail deer and the person who stole it…a pedestal-mounted whitetail deer, that is.

Sometime between 4:30 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. Tuesday, someone stole a pedestal-mounted whitetail deer from Scott’s Taxidermy, 404 N. Fifth, Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester said Wednesday. When the owner got to the business on Tuesday morning, he realized that he had mistakenly left the door unlocked, and then noticed that the deer was missing, Forrester said.

Police are checking the area for possible video surveillance, he said.
