Fifty-three local organizations will be the recipients of funding thanks to the Salina Charities League (SCL).
SCL has raised more than $120,000 from the 2019 men’s invitational golf tournament and auction during the summer. The funds will be distributed among 53 organizations across Salina.
SCL was founded in 1968 by a group of women who wanted to give back to their community, with the first fundraiser being Arabian horse show and auction. The SCL men’s invitational golf tournament began in 1972. The mission of SCL is to provide assistance to organizations for needed programs, facilities, activities, and for worthwhile charitable, educational, and cultural programs within Salina and Saline County.

With the addition of this year’s successful fundraising efforts, SCL has given more than $1.7 million dollars since 1968. Local nonprofits who applied for funding were visited and evaluated by members of SCL throughout the year, with 53 recipients being awarded financial donations. This number is an increase from the $110,000 raised in 2018 and the 52 charities selected.
