Salina Concrete Products Inc. walk-in customers were surprised this week to find out that the long-time Salina company had ceased all retail and counter sales as of Aug. 30.

Signs that read “THANK YOU SALINA FOR 106 YEARS. THE STAFF OF SALINA CONCRETE PRODUCTS” and letters that addressed the change were all over the doors to the business at 1100 W. Ash.

Judy Reh, Salina Concrete Products general manager, told Salina Post Friday morning that for now, business is still being conducted out of the facility, but that employees were told that the facility would close by the end of the year. Customers are asked to call the facility to make arrangements to pick up products, she said.

It is anticipated that once the facility closes, Salina Concrete Products customers would be serviced by a Kansas Building Products truck out of Wichita, however, those details have yet to be worked out, Reh said.

Both Salina Concrete Products, Inc., and Kansas Building Products are owned by Monarch Cement Company, which is headquartered in Humbolt, Kan.

Following is the text of the letter attached to the front door of Salina Concrete Products.
