Proclamations, Expo Center lease agreement on city agenda

Several proclamation requests and an executive session concerning the Expo Center lease agreement are among the agenda items for Monday’s Salina City Commission agenda.

Commissioners are scheduled to begin with a study session at 2:30 p.m. Monday in room 107B of the City-County Building, 300 W. Ash. The topic of the study session is a Child Care Coalition presentation. A time for public comment concerning the study session is scheduled for 3:45 p.m.

The commission’s regular meeting is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. Monday in room 107 of the City-County Building. A time for public comment is scheduled near the beginning of the building.

Commissioners are scheduled to hear the following three proclamation requests.

  • A request to proclaim the month of September 2019 as National Recovery Month in the City of Salina.
  • A request to proclaim the week of Sept. 8-14, 2019, as Assisted Living Week in the City of Salina.
  • A request to proclaim the month of September 2019 as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in the City of Salina.

Additionally, the following items are on the city commission agenda for Monday.

  • Consider Resolution No. 19-7737 setting the date for a public hearing to consider whether a dangerous structure at 236 S. Fourth Street shall be condemned and ordered demolished or repaired.
  • Considering accepting a bid from Bennington State Bank for private placement of General Obligation Temporary Notes Series 2019-2.
  • Consider authorizing the city manager to sign a request from the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) to exchange 2019 federal funds for the Ninth Street Curb and Gutter Improvements, City Project.
  • A Markley Road special assessment follow-up discussion.

City commissioners are also scheduled to consider a request for executive session “to discuss the subjects of negotiations with Saline County relating to the Expo Center Lease agreement with legal counsel,” according to the commission agenda.
