Salina Police are investigating another instance of someone attempting to cash an altered check.
This time, the check was stolen from a southern Saline County mailbox on Thursday, said Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester. About 4:20 p.m. on Monday, personnel from Bennington State Bank notified police that a white male in his mid-20s with long, dark hair attempted to cash the check at the drive-thru of the bank’s facility at 200 S. Ninth, Forrester said. The check amount had been altered with a marker to $4,700, he said.
Bank personnel noticed the change and the suspect left without getting any money, Forrester said.
Because of video surveillance and a description of the vehicle — a Chevrolet Tahoe — police believe they know who the suspect is and are actively seeking him, Forrester said.
