Burglary at TPEC results in $31,000 loss

Salina Police are investigating a recent burglary at Tony’s Pizza Events Center.

Sometime between 6:20 p.m. on Monday and 5:25 a.m. on Tuesday, someone broke a 6-foot by 8-foot window at the south entrance to the events center, 800 The Midway, and stole a Sunflower Bank ATM from the lobby, Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester said Wednesday. Part of the ATM was found in the grass near a row of trees northeast of the building, he said.

The loss for Sunflower Bank, 3025 Cortland, was $25,000 for the ATM and more than $5,000 for the cash that was inside the ATM, Forrester said. Additionally, the cost to replace the events center window was estimated at $1,000, he said.
