After many late nights and quite a few more weeks than we had originally projected, the SANKEY AUTO SKY CAM is now LIVE.

This camera is perched high atop the tower at Marymount Properties and gives a LIVE STREAMING, 360 degree view of the entire Salina area. This high-tech camera has full-range pan, tilt and zoom capabilities which we’ll be showing over the next few weeks. (We won’t be moving the camera much at first as we are testing out how our server handles all of the traffic).

While the camera will allow us to cover breaking news events within view, the main purpose of the camera will be to serve as a safety tool when severe/winter weather rolls into the Salina area.

Now, this is a beta release for our sky cam, so we expect a few glitches along the way. As it goes with anything new, we’ll never know until we try. So we apologize if there is any extended buffering, or if the feed crashes (which is entirely possible because we don’t yet know how our system will handle the large spikes in viewership that we are expecting). We will also be adding the Sankey Auto SKY CAM to the Salina Post App in the future, so that you are able to check the view directly from your Android or iPhone.

(Note – the feed will be down occasionally over the next week as we are working to improve the night time view. We will also be steering the camera and showing off all of it’s impressive capabilities over the coming weeks, so check back often).

* Camera is currently pointing to the west with the United Building in view on the right of the screen. Also, the camera will zoom in much closer than the current view. If winter weather rolls in over the next week we will attempt to zoom in so that you are able to look at the highway conditions.
