Bishop emeritus of Jordan and Holy Land to speak at Bethany

LINDSBORG — Bishop Emeritus Munib Younan, Lutheran Bishop Emeritus of Jordan and the Holy Land, is coming the Bethany College.

Younan is scheduled to be on the Bethany campus on Oct. 10-11 to share insights regarding Christian/Muslim relationships.

Younan has most recently served as president of the Lutheran World Federation. His experience is expected to provide students, faculty, community members and area clergy with an unparalleled opportunity to engage in religious and political reflection on communities of faith in the Middle East.

Students, faculty, clergy, and members of the community are invited to a buffet dinner on Oct. 10 at 5:30 p.m. in Lindquist Hall where Younan will speak. The cost of the dinner is $12 to be paid at the event. Advance registration is required by sending your name and congregational or institutional affiliation email to monsonr@bethanylb.edu by Oct. 9. A panel discussion in Lindquist Hall on the topic of interfaith approaches to immigrations and borders will follow at 7 p.m.

On Oct. 11, lunch will be served through the cafeteria service at 11:30 a.m. in the Levin Room. Please email monsonr@bethanylb.edu by Oct. 9 to reserve your spot, as space is limited in the Levin Room.

Also on Oct. 11, Younan will give a public address in Pearson Chapel, Mabee Welcome Center, from 1 to 1:50 p.m., and make himself available to meet with those interested, in the Mabee Welcome Center from 2 to 4 p.m.
