Police are investigating the theft of a $1,500 custom bicycle that was stolen from a fenced-in backyard in west-central Salina.

The 21-year-old owner, who built the bicycle himself, reported that the bicycle was stolen from the 600 block of Montrose sometime between midnight and 9 a.m. on Saturday, Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester said Wednesday. The frame had a “State Bicycle” badge on it and “RIP WALLA” was written below the seat, he said. The bicycle had thin tires and Army green pedals, Forrester added.

The bicycle was valued at $1,500, he said.
