Salina’s Fall Fix-Up is coming up next weekend and volunteers are needed to help with the projects for the annual autumnal event.

Fall Fix-Up is scheduled for 7:30 a.m.-noon Saturday. Volunteers will gather at the Temple, 336 S. Santa Fe Avenue, for a free continental breakfast prior to project work beginning.

According to information provided by the Friends of the River Foundation, the group coordinating Fall Fix-Up, the following are the projects for this year’s event.

  • Ashby House — painting living room at shelter, cleaning flowerbeds, and removing debris and trash from properties.
  • Community Housing Development — yard clean-up on North 11th Street, including trimming trees off of the roof of a structure, removing brush and a TV tower, and rebuilding a backyard fence.
  • North Town — painting front porches and putting medallions on storm drains.
  • Old Smoky Hill River channel -– Picking up trash and clearing foliage on the Smoky Hill River next to CKF.
  • Salina Downtown –- Maintenance of plants and general clean-up

In addition to the work projects, citizens can take their used tires to the empty lot north of Dairy Queen, 321 North Ninth Street, so that the tires may be recycled.

In conjunction with Fall Fix-up, the City of Salina will have a free landfill day for Saline County citizens. Read about it here.

Tools needed to do the work on the various projects will be provided, according to the information from the Friends of the River Foundation.

Additionally, all ages are welcome to volunteer, however children ages 12 and under will need to be accompanied by an adult, the information noted.
