Hear bluegrass music, eat tasty tacos, and help a local musician who has given so much to so many.

Susan Scriven has performed for many years with Bill Burrows at the Salina Senior Center, nursing homes, and local churches. Always a shining example of positivity, she has been battling leukemia most of this year with a great attitude.

A Bluegrass Benefit for Scriven is scheduled for 5:30-7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Eagles Lodge, 146 North Seventh. Admission to the event is $10 and includes a taco bar provided by the Benevolent Order of Eagles.

Performances by local bluegrass musicians, including Bill Burrows and Pete’s Creek and Friends, will fill the air. Raffle tickets may be purchased to win one of 30 raffle items provided by Salina businesses. The Bank of Tescott, Martinelli’s, Steifel Theatre, and Salina Country Club Golf are among those that have provided gift certificates, jewelry, and baskets for the raffle.

For more information or questions about the Bluegrass Benefit, contact Lisa Carter at 785-643-9385.
