Salina Police are working with Wichita Police in an attempt to identify and apprehend three suspects believed to have stolen items from stores in both cities.

Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester said Wednesday that late Monday afternoon, three individuals — two black females and a black male — entered the Salina Target store, 2939 Market Place. One of the females asked a Target associate to open the Apple case and get out an Apple Watch for her, he said. While the associate was showing the watch, the male suspect reached around the associate, grabbed an iPad, and placed it in the cart, Forrester said.

The associate, however, saw the man grab the iPad, and escorted the suspects to the cash register with the iPad, two Apple Watches, and a set of Apple Airpods, Forrester explained.

An associate began scanning the items into the register and placing them in bags. Forrester said that while one of the female suspects was distracting the associate by placing a bunch of items on the register counter, the other female subject grabbed a bag of already-scanned items and left the store with the male subject. The remaining female subject continued joking and talking with the associate as other items were scanned, he said. The second female subject then left the store without paying for or taking the items with her, Forrester said. She was seen getting into a white passenger car, he added.

Total loss in the Salina case was $2,200, Forrester said.

Forrester said the three subjects are believed to have stolen items from Wichita stores as well, and that Salina Police are working with Wichita Police in an attempt to identify and apprehend the suspects.

Forrester described the three suspects as follows.

• A black female in her mid-20s to 30s wearing all beige, including a beanie-style hat
• A black female in her mid-30s to 50 wearing a red scarf, black shirt, and blue floral pants
• A black male of unknown age wearing a camo shirt, black pants, and a gray hat
