2018 audit, ordinances, resolutions among city agenda items

A review of the 2018 audit, ordinance changes, and resolutions are among the items on the Salina City Commission agenda for Monday.

Commissioners are scheduled to begin with a 2:30 p.m. study session in room 107B of the City-County Building, 300 W. Ash. The agenda for the study session is as follows.

  • 2:30 p.m. – Childcare Coalition Follow-up Discussion
  • 3:30 p.m. – CIP & Sub-CIP Discussion
  • 3:45 p.m. – A time for public comment concerning the study session

The regular commission meeting is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. in room 107 of the City-County Building. A time for public comment is scheduled near the beginning of the meeting.

Commissioners are scheduled to consider a request to proclaim Nov. 1, 2019, as Extra Mile Day in the City of Salina. Brenda Gutierrez, program director for the Salina Area United Way, is scheduled to read the proclamation.

Additionally, the commission is to receive and review the 2018 Audit Report from Mize Houser and Company.

Commissioners also are being asked to consider changes to the Salina Code by adopting the 2019 Standard Traffic Ordinance and the 2019 Uniform Public Offense Code for Kansas Cities.

Other items on the city commission agenda for Monday include the following.

  • Consider authorizing the purchase of 17 fire hydrants from Core & Main (HD Supply Waterworks), McPherson, in the amount of $25,422.31.
  • Award contracts for the asbestos abatement and demolition of 540 West Iron Avenue (project Nos 19-0002 and 19-0003).
  • Consider Resolution No. 19-7759 authorizing the mayor to execute a second amendment to the Lighthouse Properties III, Inc. transferee agreement.
  • Consider Resolution No. 19-7757 adopting the Saline County Solid Waste Management Plan, with goals for the 2018-2027 time period, as recommended following the annual review by the Saline County Solid Waste Management Committee.
