Streetscape work shuts down part of Walnut

Salina downtown streetscape improvements continue with work closing the 100 blocks of East and West Walnut Street.

East Walnut Street from South Santa Fe Avenue to South Fifth Street is now closed to through traffic so that a brick crosswalk at the alley can be installed, according to a news release from the City of Salina. Weather permitting, through traffic will be allowed again on Nov. 8.

Beginning Thursday, West Walnut Street from South Santa Fe Avenue to South Seventh Street will be closed to through traffic so that a brick crosswalk can be installed at the alley. Weather permitting, through traffic will be allowed again on Nov. 13.

According to the release, this will complete all pavement work on the Santa Fe streetscape project until storm sewer work is allowed to begin on East Mulberry Street between Santa Fe Avenue and Fifth Street.
