Police investigating alleged aggravated battery, robbery

Police are investigating an alleged aggravated battery and robbery in central Salina.

According to Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester, officers were dispatched to Salina Regional Health Center to take a report from a 26-year-old Salina man who allegedly was beaten by four individuals in his apartment in the 100 block of East Prescott Avenue sometime between 8-8:15 a.m. Monday. The man had non-life-threatening injuries, Forrester said.

The man told officers that the four individuals showed up at his apartment asking about a suitcase, Forrester said. The man told the four that he didn’t know about a suitcase, but agreed to allow one of them into his apartment to look, Forrester explained. As he did so, the other three people pushed their way into the apartment and the four of them began beating on the 26-year-old, he said.

The man told police that as they struck him, he fell into a closet, and as he was falling, he grabbed for the clothes rod, which broke off the closet wall, Forrester said. The man said the four then began beating him with the rod, Forrester said.

During the altercation, the lone female subject brandished a handgun, the man reported.

Forrester said the man was not sure when the four people left his apartment, but he did note that a Jay Turser acoustic electric guitar (valued at $200) and a prosthetic arm (valued at $2,000) were missing after the four were gone. Both the guitar and the arm belonged to a 58-year-old Salina man, Forrester said.

According to Forrester, the four subjects were described as follows.

  • A black male in his mid-30s, approximately 5’10” and 260 pounds
  • A white male 18-20, approximately 5’11” and 220 pounds
  • A white female approximately 5’3″ with black hair
  • A white male, 6′, thin, with a beard

Police believe they may know the identities of a couple of the suspects, Forrester said.
