A 41-year-old Assaria man was taken to Salina Regional Health Center for treatment of injuries he received Thursday night after being hit by a pickup truck while walking along Highway 81 near Mentor Road.

Saline County Sheriff Glen Kochanowski said that Boyd Hatfield was clipped by a side mirror of the Dodge Ram Pickup driven by 31-year-old Erin Lindsey of Salina.

Both the pickup and Hatfield were going northbound just after 7:30 pm. Lindsey turned around and called authorities.

The extent of the injuries to Hatfield were not known, but the Sheriff said Hatfield was alert and verbal when transported to the hospital.
