The Saline County Sheriffs Office arrested a Salina man Tuesday afternoon for illegal dumping, drug charges and possession of stolen property.
43-year-old Edward Gray, of 701 State, was arrested during a traffic stop after a deputy recognized a pickup from a picture, that had been taken with a wild game camera, illegally dumping trash near the Smoky Hill River on E. North Street.
By using the picture the Sheriffs Office was able to check the license plate on the truck which had been stolen from a man who is in the Saline County Jail.
A Deputy saw the pickup going south on 9th with the stolen license plate around 3 pm Tuesday afternoon and arrested Gray.
The pickup was also reported stolen from Abilene, and Gray had a small amount of meth and potpourri, and a child was not properly restrained in the backseat of the truck.
Captain Brian Shea says the Sheriffs Office is using the motion activated wildlife cameras in areas where illegal dumping occurs as well as other areas where repeat criminal activity is taking place in the county.
