A Salina man faces several charges after pulling a knife on a police officer late Monday night during a traffic stop.

24-year-old Joseph A Johnson of 616 Charles was pulled over by police near the intersection of Hancock and Crawford around 11:15 pm, to check to see if Johnson was driving under the influence.

Johnson pulled out a butterfly knife on two officers after the DUI testing was being completed, and took off running. He was caught by officers as he was going over a chain link fence less than a block from where the stop took place.

Johnson was arrested on requested charges of aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer, interference of a law enforcement officer, DUI, and criminal use of a weapon.
