A stolen car was hot for more than one reason Friday night.

Salina Police and the fire department responded to a report of a car on fire about 9:30pm in the 600 block of S. 10th. The fire was in the engine compartment of a 1991 Cadillac stolen from the 600 block of Montrose.

The owner of the car was not aware it was gone until notified by police.

A witness saw a white male in a ball cap get out of the car when smoke was coming from under the hood. He opened the hood and flames shot out of the engine compartment.

The male took off running when the witness was bringing a garden hose out to fight the fire.

The damage estimate to the car was not available. The car is owned by Audry Sandoval.
