Riley County Police have arrested 18-year-old Dylon Babcock, of Manhattan, following a multiple hit and run accident and aggravated battery in Manhattan. There were no injuries.

The incident occured at approximately 8:50 p.m. Tuesday. RCPD officials received a report of a hit and run accident occuring at Tuttle Creek Boulevard and Kimball Avenue in Manhattan between a blue 1989 Plymouth Reliant, driven by Babcock, and a silver 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by 23-year-old Ryan Bjurstrom of Manhattan.

Police say Babcock fled the scene westbound on Kimball Ave in the opposing lanes of traffic before turning south on North Manhattan Avenue. A passerby, 22-year-old Kevin Scherer, in a red Dodge Dakota witnessed the accident and decided to follow Babcock. Babcock then turned into the Blue Hills Road and Bluestem Terrace neighborhood where it struck several objects, including Scherer’s Dodge Dakota. Babcock’s car became high-centered in the front yard of 1931 Bluestem Terrace and was detained on scene by citzens until officers arrived on scene.

Babcock was arrested on suspicion of aggravated battery, DUI, reckless driving, leaving the scene of a property damage accident. Bond was set at $4,000 in Riley County District Court.
