Last week America got a view of the future as Greece and France held elections. One country got themselves a socialist leader, the other no leader at all as they could not come up with a coalition that would create a majority.

We have an election later this year that could put us “through the looking glass” and enter the “land of plenty spending.”

The people of the aforementioned countries, as well as others in Europe, have a mind set which dictates the government must take care of them from cradle to grave. They believe there is a “horn of plenty” when it comes to the government, and that the government needs to take from the rich, in the form of taxes, thus continuing spending that should stimulate their economies. It didn’t work in the past, but the people of Europe do not seem to understand the party is over. That was evident last week as they refused to continue down the “Austerity” road. If they continue to demand their governments spend, spend, spend, in order to provide all the things the populace believe is their right to receive, they will become the Europe of the 40’s, without the ravages of a war.

So, America stands in front of the looking glass and must decide if they will go through. It would seem the current government and a majority of the populace are ready to enter and join those on the other side. The question remains, “why can’t the populace see the danger of such a leap”?
