Strong Storms Possible This Afternoon, Evening

A cold front will move south across central Kansas this afternoon and across south central and southeast Kansas tonight. Thunderstorms are expected to develop along this front and some of them could be strong to marginally severe this afternoon and evening. The main risks will be strong winds of 50 to 60 mph and nickel to quarter sized hail. Cooler air is expected behind the cold front on Thursday with highs in the 80s.

Today: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 91. Breezy, with a south wind between 18 and 28 mph, with gusts as high as 37 mph.

Tonight: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 1am. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 62. South southwest wind 8 to 10 mph becoming north. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
