After having their 11 game win streak snapped by Hays last night, the Salina Hawks wasted no time in starting another win streak sweeping McPherson 13-2 and 10-2.

In Game One the Hawks scored 13 runs in just two scoring innings.  After getting out on the right foot scoring four runs in the first inning which featured a three run home by J.W. Maldaner, the Hawks would be held scoreless in the second then explode in the the third.

The Hawks scored 11 runs off six hits in just the third inning.  Caden Springer batted in five runs by himself in that inning alone off a single and a bases clearing double.  Four other Hawks would add one RBI each  and two would score off wild pitches.  Tyler McElwee went the distance for the Hawks picking up the victory,  McElwee surrendered only four hits three of which came in the fourth inning.  McElwee also struck out five while not walking a single batter.

Game Two was a run rule as well in the fifth inning, but McPherson had their chances to make a game of it just never could capitalize.  McPherson stranded five runners in scoring position alone three of which stalled at third base.

Kyle Stover and Maldaner each had two runs batted in for the Hawks giving Maldaner five for the doubleheader.  Dillion Hopkins got the win with the help of his defense.  Hopkins gave up eight hits and walked four, but still held McPherson to just two runs.

The Hawks (13-2) will welcome Wamego to Dean Evans stadium next June 22nd with the first pitch set for 6 p.m.
