A 48-year-old Salina man has been charged with aggravated assault after threatening another man with a steak knife during an argument early Tuesday morning.

Deputy Police Chief Carson Mansfield says Jerrold Adair, who lives at the Airliner Motel at 781 N. Broadway, had tried to stab 28-year-old John Thompson during an argument.

Thompson struck Adair in the face every time Adair tried to stab him. Adair was taken to the hospital for treatment of cuts to the face and a broken nose.

Thompson was not injured.

Alcohol is believed to have been a factor.

The incident took place about 12:30 am.
