A fight just before lunch Sunday at the Saline County Jail gets an additional charge tacked on for an inmate.
Sheriff Glen Kochanowski says that 51-year-old Percy Lester and 27-year-old Devin Dirkson, got into an argument about 11:30am while locked down in a pod before lunch was served.
Lester punched Dirksen, and when Dirksen went to defend himself, Lester bit Dirkson a couple of times and then picked him up and body slammed him to the concrete floor, breaking Dirksen’s shoulder. Lester also punched Dirksen again while he was on the ground.
Dirksen was taken to Salina Regional Health Center for treatment of injures and will also need to see an orthopedic specialist about the broken shoulder. Lester now has been charged with aggravated battery.
Dirksen has been an inmate at the Saline County Jail since June 27th on charges of criminal threats and harassment.
Lester has been jailed since July29th on domestic violence and drug charges.
Sheriff Kochanowski says that the Saline County Jail inmate population Monday was 252, including inmates being housed at other jails in the area.
