The Salina Police Department is gearing up traffic enforcement through Labor Day.
Between Thursday and September 3rd additional officers will be out on the streets of Salina, at various times, looking for drivers violating traffic laws or driving under the influence.
The overtime for the officers is paid for with grant money from the Special Traffic Enforcement Program, or S.T.E.P.
Extra officers will also be out on Salina streets Friday night into Saturday morning concentrating on finding impaired drivers. Officers will be patrolling between 11:00pm and 3:00am.
The overtime for the saturation patrol is paid for with a grant from the Impaired Drivers Deterrence Program, or I.D.D.P .
