Many of you may not be aware of a movement afoot in this country to call for a Constitutional Convention (Con-Con), while others of you may have some knowledge of what a Constitutional Convention is, and the dangers of a Con-Con.

If you are not interested in politics and feel that our elected representatives will take care of things, rest assured most politicians do not hold you or the sovereignty of this nation in very high regard.  Unfortunately, I was one of those who took an interest in the political scene late in life and now realize how far down the road to ruin our nation has gone.

Here is a brief summary of what we are up against.  It takes 34 states to call for a Con-Con in order for the individual states to propose amendments to our Constitution.  To date 32 states have an active call submitted to congress to call a Con-Con.  The state of Kansas is one of those 32 states.  It only takes two more states to request a Con-Con at which time Congress has no choice but to call a Con-Con.  Currently, 15 of those 32 states have subsequently rescinded their previous call for a Con-Con.  Article V of the U.S. Constitution does not address this issue, so how it would play out is not clear.

Because of the great dangers of a Con-Con, which you can learn from the above link, it is important to make every effort to stop such action.  Check your state, if your state has not called for a Con-Con, attempt to find out if your legislature is contemplating such a move, and if they are garner fellow citizens and attempt to stop it.  If your state has called for a Con-Con and subsequently rescinded it, try to make sure another request is not in the making by your respective legislative body.  If your state has requested a Con-Con, again, garner fellow citizens and attempt to have that call rescinded.  That is what some of us in Kansas are attempting to do this next legislative session.
