Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt has announced that three Salina organizations have been awarded grants totaling $123,993 for victims’ service programs.
The grants awarded will fund the following projects:
Ashby House: $22,888 to fund shelter and services for chemically dependent domestic violence victims.
Child Advocacy & Parenting Services, Inc.: $14,490 to fund the organization’s Happy Bear sexual abuse prevention training program to over 3,000 children in Saline and Ottawa counties and to support CASA volunteers to advocate for children who are in court because of abuse or neglect.
Child Advocacy & Parenting Services, Inc.: $18,066 to provide 24-hour advocacy and support for victims of sexual abuse or serious physical abuse and their non-offending caregiver.
Domestic Violence Association of Central Kansas: $22,888 to provide 24-hour crisis intervention, emergency shelter and economic advocacy to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
Domestic Violence Association of Central Kansas: $45,661 to provide temporary emergency shelter as and support services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and/or stalking and their dependent children in order to meet their immediate health and safety needs.
“Organizations throughout Kansas are key partners in providing essential services to crime victims,” Schmidt said. “We are proud to support the valuable work of these organizations.”
These grants were awarded from the State Crime Victims’ Assistance Fund, State Crime Victims’ Assistance Fund for Child Abuse and Neglect and Protection from Abuse Fund which are financed though district court fines, penalties and forfeitures, marriage license fees, district court docket fees, county court costs and municipal court assessments.
This year, the Attorney General’s Office awarded nearly $2 million in grants to local and state crime victim assistance organizations through the Victims’ Services Grants Program.
