St. Joseph Based Food Bank’s CEO Resigns

A food bank that serves 19 counties in northeast Kansas and northwest Missouri is looking for a new leader, for the second time in two years.

David Davenport resigned Wednesday as chief executive officer of Second Harvest Community Food Bank, effective immediately.

Davenport released a statement saying the CEO and board of directors have different visions for the food bank’s future, leading him to step aside. He did not elaborate.

Davenport became the food bank’s executive director in February 2011.

Court records show an employee discrimination lawsuit was filed against Second Harvest in July, naming Davenport and Tamara Grubb, the chief operating officer. A case review hearing was scheduled Thursday.
