A 49-year-old Salina man has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident, reckless driving, and failure to report an accident after driving his pickup over a gas meter and hitting the front porch of a house Saturday evening.

Vernon Brown is alleged to have driven his 2002 Ford F-150 in the the yard of 710 W. Prescott about 8:50pm, Brown had been driving south on Phillips, then east on Prescott when the truck jumped the curb, sheared off a gas meter and hit the front porch.

Brown got out of the truck and left on foot, and was arrested around 11:00am Sunday morning at his home.
